15 years ago the Conservative proposed introducing a compulsory national citizen service for 16 year olds. They were told making it compulsory would be the "kiss of death": news.bbc.co.uk/1/mobile/uk_po… Yet, here we are again with another compulsory service idea.

So Keep Britain Tidy's income surged thanks to a multimillion pound donation from the tobacco industry's CIC. đź‘€ Surprised its trustees allowed the donation. Quite unconventional in these more enlightened times.

Today, we have written to Ealing Council to strongly oppose its plans for cycle lanes on the Ealing Hospital section of the Uxbridge Road. Why? Because they’re dangerous and don’t follow TfL and DfT guidance.

The proposals include a shared pedestrian/cycle lane east-bound on a fast downhill section of the road. This goes against TfL guidance that clearly states: “Cyclists and pedestrians should not be forced together where there is space to keep them apart.”

West-bound, the council is proposing that cyclists share a lane with buses and ambulances. This is despite TfL guidance stating: “On bus routes where there is room, we will install segregated lanes… where there is not room, we will use alternative forms of separation.”

There are six lanes along this section of road, plus a large rubbish-strewn central island. There is ample space to accommodate protected cycle lanes here. We have forwarded our concerns to TfL and Active Travel England. We are also taking legal advice.

Proud to see my local community in #Ealing #Brentford come out last night to reject racism. The crowd would have been far larger but the police requested that demonstrators stay away. #rejectracism

The Lido Junction West Ealing Claudia Manera, a former police officer died here after being hit by a lorry whilst cycling over this extremely dangerous junction in 2017. It is saddening, that the bike left here in memory of her, has been vandalised. Make Uxbridge Road Safe!

Well done @LucyS_Speaks for making the case on BBC Breakfast for 20mph speed limits. They may be unpopular with some motorists but they do save lives and reduce pollution on many roads.

Just saw an ad for England men's team v Greece. It advertised cheap family tickets. Went on to the website and it wanted ÂŁ360 for an adult and two child tickets. Seriously The FA?

This presents a challenge for the charity sector. Can it convince the new government (Lisa Nandy MP) to not make a political appointment? thirdsector.co.uk/orlando-fraser…
