I really enjoyed discussing the Mile End Institute's new report on the #civicuniversity today with Jonathan Slater, Bob Kerslake, Ben Rogers and Farah Hussain. Higher Education Policy Institute is publishing a report by Richard Brabner that touches on this topic next week, so keep an eye out for that!
Great to see our panel event with Unite Group Plc and Halpin on racism in student accommodation this morning highlighted in the The Guardian hillary Osaro Otobo ✨ @jennyshaw Higher Education Policy Institute tinyurl.com/yc3ndhx6
Excellent stuff from my colleague Ben Moore on Higher Education Policy Institute new national security report. Tl:dr - important that we have law in place to protect UK interests but also critical we support new partnerships & there are things govt should do to ensure the new rules deliver.
Good to see this new Higher Education Policy Institute report on national security out today and foreword from Anna President Anthony Finkelstein Researchers contribute directly to developing sensitive technologies that provide security to the UK, and this work must be protected.
This blog on Higher Education Policy Institute is a response from Russell Group to a new must-read report from Alexis Brown entitled "What's next for national security and research" - a sobering read bit.ly/34IkKb9
Response is flying in from across the sector. We bring you the most comprehensive insight into how the reforms are being greeted, including Rt Hon Michelle Donelan Daniel Zeichner Alexis Brown Diana Beech Larissa and so many more. researchprofessionalnews.com/rr-news-uk-pol… 3/3
Universities must take the lead on security: Without a proactive approach to international risks, more legislation is inevitable, says Alexis Brown. (£) Alexis Brown Higher Education Policy Institute researchprofessionalnews.com/rr-news-uk-vie…
A lot has already been said about how last week's Augar response affects disadvantaged students and lower to middle income graduates. In today's Times Higher Education I say a bit about how I think we got here and what might happen next - especially as inflation rises
In today's Higher Education Policy Institute blog, Uilleam Blacker 🇺🇦 at UCL School of Slavonic & East European Studies offers practical recommendations for how UK HE can help in Ukraine, such as lobbying the Home Office:
Congrats vivienne stern, wonderful news for UK HE!
A really great initiative twinning 🇺🇦 and 🇬🇧universities - fantastic to see 60+ partnerships developing. Huge thanks to @consultcormack & @CharlesCormack who have made it possible. NEW on Wonkhe: This week on the podcast graduate anxiety is on the rise and feelings of dissatisfaction and low worth are becoming more prevalent. What’s going on? Paul Ashwin Mark Leach @[email protected] Alexis Brown buff.ly/3QJGExz
Great to see this emphasis on FDI. The National Centre for Universities and Business taskforce in 2020 said "The UK must start behaving as a competitor in the global market for R&D investment to retain existing business investment and attract higher levels of globally mobile business research."
“Wantonly reducing the number of international students in this country would not only cripple the research base (but who needs vaccines anyway) – it would make it harder for universities to.. subsidise domestic teaching.” Alexis Brown for Higher Education Policy Institute hepi.ac.uk/2022/08/19/are…
Great to see my last Higher Education Policy Institute report on Foreign Direct Investment into UK R&D out today, in collaboration with Midlands Innovation, Universities UK International and National Centre for Universities and Business, and with ministerial support from @GeorgeFreemanMP and Lord Johnson
I was delighted to share our experience obtaining foreign direct investment into R&D for a new report on the topic by Higher Education Policy Institute. Imperial receives around 15% of its research funding from industry and just over half of this is from outside the UK. (Thread 👇)
