Had a great time meeting a scientific hero from my thesis days, Frank Booth, as he presented at today's UAB Center for Exercise Medicine (UCEM) Hunter-Bamman Award Lecture. It was inspirational hearing about his accomplishments over the last 50 years and what we still have to learn from him.

Super thankful to Ippei Shimizu for an outstanding start to my first visit to Japan at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center (NCVC), Osaka; sharing our work and great discussions with his colleagues & trainees; delicious food & touring potential future SHVM venues!

Always happy to present updates on our work and hear about the progress of my colleagues Hyoung Kyu Kim and Jin Han CMDC Busan. In addition to the stimulating discussions over dinner with the trainees, enjoyed a hike, food, and of course a little karaoke 😉!

Some of the most important contemporary work being done with LVADs. Bridge to recovery or delay of transplantation can mean many more years of life for some patients. The ISHLT #ISHLT2024 #LVAD #transplant Alex Reyentovich, MD Jason N. Katz

Interesting new publication from the laboratory of Brian Finck about muscle/liver crosstalk, metabolism, and exercise performance. journals.physiology.org/doi/full/10.11…

Happy to have hosted Aaron Olson for the UAB Pathology Grand Rounds. He gave an outstanding talk on his O-GlcNAcylation & HBP work. Reminding us once again that it is not always glucose flux regulated and contexts in which it can be beneficial. And enjoyed great conversations!

One final shout out to Luke Potter, a large dose of thanks for what he did for our group, and a prayer for the future I know he is going to make for himself in his new role as a bioinformatician! Please join me in congratulating Luke! UAB Pathology UAB GBS
