A key new finding post-peer review is we asked what happens if you express Mmc1 in the budding yeast S. cerevisiae, where it is missing. Amazingly, it can help compensate for loss of the MICOS complex!

We think a protein present in most fungi assembles like dynamin on cristae, but can't hydrolyze GTP, and instead acts like a membrane scaffold to support cristae structure. Check out a tweetorial on the original preprint: x.com/LabFriedman/st…
