Recently our MSc class in Subsurface Characterization toured along Killiney Bay studying Quaternary sections representing the glaciation and deglaciation of Ireland with Sam Kelley & Mark Coughlan, thinking about ground-modelling and implications for infrastructure development

Dr Simon Jones, Research Fellow in the School, recently carried out field mapping in Kazakhstan, as part of a collaborative research project. Focus on the Chu Sarysu basin, to understand the evolution and the fluid flow that formed the giant sediment-hosted Cu Dzhezkazgan deposit

QUEST and SCALE team members from UCD Civil Engineering, UCD Earth Sciences & Dublin City University about to embark on an escape rooms. If they get out, everyone gets a pay raise. If they fail to get out in time, everyone gets the sack. #teambuilding 😜 Will report back on their progress!

Last term, students in our MSc in Subsurface Characterisation and Geomodelling carried out field mapping and data collection of faulted and folded carbonate rock sequences in Malahide, Ireland. Students discussing with Dr Conrad Childs, Dr Tom Manzocchi and Dr Koen Torremans

Raw materials are vital for key energy transition technologies. Dr Rockjunkie and Dr Simon Jones are studying mineral deposits in the Iberian Pyrite Belt. The research team during the sampling campaign in Portugal, including Dr Filipa Luz of Almina, who are a key collaborator.
