I want to spend a week living in the universe where we domesticated raccoons instead of dogs. You know they'd just be hanging out in your house drinking coca cola and trying to figure out what to watch on Netflix.

It's heartbreaking how many of my patients get complimented on their (unintentional) weight loss when the reason is cancer Hardly a novel observation that we tie too many snap judgments to body mass but your understanding of someone else's changing appearance may be skin-deep

when i started intern year w/way too much energy, i thought (to quote the The Mountain Goats) "everybody's got their limits, nobody's found mine." by spring, i knew my exact limits: after 18 hours on shift or 9 days (ish, of 12 hour shifts) in a row, i'm not a good doctor

🧡regarding several ways in which you can inadvertently damage the tissues when approximating them with sutures. These are particularly important to recognize when the tissue is thin or fragile, because this is when you may not get away with using sloppy technique. (1/ )

I need the small intersection of people I know who are in the category of "knitters who seam stuff" and "people who deliver babies" to understand my thoughts on mattress stitching my knitting together and how doing a crown stitch is different in those two contexts

First delivery as an attending, check. Was I still wearing a The Mountain Goats t-shirt because I didn't have time to get a scrub top? Yes. Does that give the baby a mysterious boon? Also yes.
