If parents want to be in charge of what children are learning they can homeschool. The rest of us are living in a society where we have to balance competing interests. It’s what makes public schools great.

A child shot nine people at an Oxford, Michigan, high school today - killing three - and pundits will say the solution is MORE GUNS. It’s a failed experiment: There are 400M guns in the hands of civilians here. If more guns made us safer, we’d be the safest nation in the world.

It must be absolutely exhausting for our nation’s students to watch some adults care more about teachers bringing history books to school than a gunman brining a weapon.
