Critical to understand that these cost overruns come precisely because the voucher lobby undersold how many voucher users were already in private school. These are NEW obligations to taxpayers. cleveland.com/news/2024/03/p…

The reason new voucher bills have few testing reqs is: The voucher lobby knows the results are piss-poor and don’t want a repeat of last decade’s headlines The New York Times 👇

38 hours in to protecting #Missouri Democracy; thank you to #patriots Doug Beck and Brian Williams holding the floor during the hardest filibuster shift. #moleg

The last four evaluations of statewide voucher schemes found some of the largest *negative* effects the research community has ever seen—for any intervention. On par with what COVID or Katrina did to test scores. Why? Vouchers mainly prop up sub-prime and pop-up church schools.

The only thing dumber than asking for a TRO against an opponent the Friday before a Tuesday election is LOSING a TRO against your opponent the Friday before a Tuesday election.

My preschool provider takes mostly subsidy payments because she is a go to provider for foster kids. This allows stability for kids that may not always have it. She has to close at the end of the month— #moleg

This win against Amendment 2 is a victory for every Kentucky student, educator, and rural community. Instead of draining resources from our public schools, Kentucky can invest in proven strategies that help *all* students thrive. Thank you, KEA, for leading this fight!

Everyone agrees that Louisiana vouchers have been a disaster. Where we differ is on whether that disaster should have been expanded. The “results don’t matter” side won, and last year, 80% of voucher schools got D or F ratings. New coverage NOLA.com nola.com/news/education…

Bit of good news: no religious public schools—at least for now. I’m a Christian man. I grew up in the same Catholic covenant network as Justice Barrett herself. I believe in the Resurrection. I also believe taxpayer-funded religious schools are wrong. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

The best take on today's attack on Venezuela is likely the most cynical: that it is staged and transactional. Trump wouldn't attack Russia's ally without permission - but in 2019 Putin offered Trump a swap: Russia cedes Venezuela and gets Ukraine. Dave Troy as usual called it. 2/
