The govt has often ignored pay review body recommendations in the past, so why shouldn’t workers? The process is hardly independent. Their remit is set by govt & requires them to have regard to affordability constraints, departmental spending plans & the govt’s inflation target.

Health chiefs are warning that they can’t guarantee patient safety during the strikes. But they can’t guarantee patient safety outside the strikes either. Demand for health & social care outstrips capacity so much that people are harmed and die every day for want of decent care.

To blame the NHS workers for putting patients at risk,whilst going into direct conflict with them,is a desperate show of govt incompetence. Fault lies solely with years of govt choices. Over time,when enough bricks at the bottom are pulled,the whole structure comes crashing down!

Successive Tory governments have - in Steve Barclay’s phrase - been taking a conscious decision to harm patients for 12 years by deliberately neglecting the NHS because of their ideological hatred of the welfare state and their faith that if you are poor it’s your own fault.

How is it that the ‘independent’ pay review bodies have overseen a 26% cut in doctors’ pay (40% for consultants)? Is their ‘independent’ assessment that we’re worth a quarter less than in 2008? If our pay had increased in line with MPs/private sector, there would be no strikes

The NHS is completely BROKEN It WASNT broken by COVID/Ukraine/inflation(*delete excuse) It was broken by deliberate CHOICES to break it RT if you want this/next government to make CHOICES to properly fund the NHS, reward its staff & provide better healthcare for UK population
