All of my emails just disappeared into a whiteness as profoundly & fatally white as the great white whale that sank the Pequod. Entire account just expired as if it had never been. Ominous sign for my 2025.

Why do people play so much bad music? There is an endless amount of good music, freely available and curated by reliable curators. Yet most of the time when I go out, the music is terrible? How can bad taste persist in this universally indexed age?!

One thing I was pleased to figure out in year 1 of graduate school during D. H. Phong's fantastic complex analysis class was that this was known certainly by 1900 -- something about theta functions and hyper-elliptic curves. Deserves a blog post. (below authors know this ofc.)
