Happy to see some data. First, H/t to Drs. Drew Magstadt, Barb Petersen, Xiao Xu & their colleagues for sharing data in this preprint. A few quick thoughts:

1) concerned about discussion of mutations showing signs of adaptation to human receptor & mammalian transmission

2)

Grateful to Medpage Dr. @JeremyFaust for getting Dr. Monica M. Bertagnolli Dr. Bertagnolli to talk about viral persistence. This is an acknowledgement we've been waiting for...but it's hardly celebratory after CDC had dramatically cut isolation and NIH has just shut down Test2Treat!

How do I receive medical care when the risk of catching COVID is so great and treatment is prohibitively expensive? I've already had COVID 4 times as a result of exposure at medical appointments. Many things must be done in person. My options are to go without or risk my life.

I heard World Health Organization (WHO) say this too--that they could not recommend a particular protection unless everyone has access. This is a weak excuse. Everyone deserves proper protection from a deadly airborne virus--how much would it really have cost to provide masks/respirators to all?

Since I was exposed again, I am approaching this as a new infection. There's no way to prove either way. But an insurance company who doesn't want me to have another box until August probably won't like that either. I applied for Test2Treat, but today is their last day.

Another positive test today. I may have been reinfected on April 11th at a medical appointment, but this means I have experienced acute COVID almost every day since March 12th, after being exposed March 6th.
I finished on the 14th and tested negative that day.

Let's make the math math. We want to save money in our state budget, ok. We want to ensure our hospitals are paid, ok.

Then there is NO reason why we can't pass using federal dollars to provide life-saving healthcare to undocumented New Yorkers AND save millions!

I’m honored to serve with Alexa Avilés & Mercedes Narcisse who had the vision to hold today’s important and unprecedented hearing on the specific & unique experiences of Black Migrants. Over 1,000 people showed up at City Hall, and what a beautiful sight it is to see!!

Thanks to Gustavo Rivera for championing this bill, S8843, which is heading for a Senate floor vote! It requires community input and stronger state review when hospitals want to close or downsize.

The Supreme Court’s decision to let BLM activist DeRay McKesson be held liable for the actions of a single protester in 2016 is a terrifying assault on the 1st Amendment—and a serious threat to the right to protest in 3 southern states. Elie Mystal explains. bit.ly/3Q3M1ZW

Delivery Apps charge restaurants 15-30% of an order & with extra fees their cut can rise as high as 58%. Those are mafia margins.
They use actual protection racket tactics - add restaurants against their will & if the restaurants insist to be removed, the apps list them as closed

Think how Uber/Lyft used to be cheaper than taxis. Once they dismantled that model, they jacked their prices way up. We're just at the point in the cycle, where companies can lose a ton of money, keep prices low & offset that by squeezing restaurants and workers at the bottom.
