Today I got to say that #OpenEd is important for #GenderEquity - it's #OEWeek Day 2! #GoOpenReynoldsCC! And thanks to Reynolds Community College for giving me the chance to share.

Today I commit to making my #OpenEd power and #OEWeek voice stand with Dr Flávia Belham to challenge Forbes and their crazy continuation of the learning styles myth. It's a narrative that is bad for student success, bad for equity and bad for learning.

There was this one time when I did the whole 30 - I lost 5 lbs.felt cool - learned a little. Bold move to do this one in public. But I believe #UDL = equity = > tiny waist. Day 1 is tomorrow. #HigherEd

This week Reynolds Community College hosted the AMAZING Andratesha Fritzgerald (she/her) and my mind and heart were blown away with what I learned about students, #UDL and #equity work - I hope you will read the book - Antiracism and Universal Design for Learning. It’s worth your brain space. Promise.

I had a teacher named Jayne Greco - she used stories and speeches, history, poetry, news & debate to connect to students-EVERY student - so we could see ourselves in whatever we were learning. And taught me to see others with all that beauty. #TeacherAppreciationWeek

This week I messaged three past colleagues and said "how would you teach faculty about this topic?" all replied within 24hrs. Today - I took all their advice and rock-stared my fac-dev session. Teachers come in so many forms. THANK YOU mentors! #TeacherAppreciationWeek

Calling all my #OpenEd crew!

I am twenty six in my box and expect I will still be counting flags until the day I die or the day they pry the dried up Outlook box from my tired or fired fingers….
