Given the short fall in funding to tackle the harms of tobacco the treasury bringing in a polluter pays levy on tobacco companies makes sense & would save lives.

In 2019, gov set a national target to be smokefree by 2030 - meaning <5% of adults smoking. And while smoking rates are falling (now at 13%), @JavedKhanCEO's 2022 independent review found that w/o further action, the target will be missed by at least 7yrs gov.uk/government/pub…
