The problem with generalized statements like this is that they overlook individual differences in skills, discipline, tenacity and prioritisation. While it is admittedly challenging, it’s not that uncommon. Success depends on many personal factors!

Beautifully expressed! Your thoughts on the impact of role models really struck a chord with me. Good mentorship, whether giving or receiving, is incredibly rewarding, and I feel fortunate to have experienced both.

This is correct. Referring team usually has provisional dx/plan. Specific clinical question in the request makes it easier for us to create useful reports. Looking for supportive evidence/complications? Are we helping troubleshoot? Plan for guided drainage/other procedure?

💯 agreement. PG training forces a thesis on everyone, wasting time and energy. That is not research. Besides, not all doctors need to OR want to publish papers. Let them pick projects that matter—to them or the system. Teach them to interpret evidence, not chase publications!

Just got my copy of the ARRS Emergency Department Categorical Course Book - guess who’s the first author of a chapter on fractures in the elderly? 😁 Really happy this one’s out! Can’t thank Sameer Raniga enough for his guidance — and my co-authors for their stellar work!
