Starting to prep for a lecture to our PCPs about the newest in heart disease prevention.
I'm trying to think outside the box here.
This seems like a good place to start.
Any other good resources?

Our bodies are sytematically designed for movement.
Our brains do not like a sedentary lifestyle.
Activity treats depression better than meds (not for everyone- but many).
Check out the bottom of this graph- AND MOVE!

Congrats. Nice work.
Wider spread Lp(a) is needed.
I'm doing a one-time screen on all my patients.
Given that an Lp(a) level of 175 mg/dL confers equivalent risk of ASCVD to that of genetically diagnosed FH- broadened Lp(a) testing may be justifiable.

Big Picture:
Benefits of statins outweigh the risks of a bump in glucose.
'The ADA standards of care for diabetes recommend that statin therapy should be initiated in individuals with diabetes and other cardiovascular risk factors.'

Always respect the ESH:
With BP- Age matters.
The ESH guidelines target BP <140/80 mm Hg for patients 65-79 years of age. For adults ≥80 years of age, the threshold is even more lenient, targeting SBP between 140 and 150 mm Hg.

Statins prevent cardiovascular events the best because they prevent new atherosclerotic lesions.
The lesion that never happens can never cause a clinical event.
Know your LDL, ApoB and Lp(a)!

Think it's harmless?

KEY POINTS:
The clinical evidence in favor of apoB is now definitive!
ApoB is a more accurate marker of cardiovascular risk and the adequacy of lipid-lowering therapy than LDL-C or non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol.
