Congratulations to my friend Tammy McDermott!

As we end another year, I once again reflect on Benjamin Franklin’s quote “Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better man.” These words are my goal for the new year. Wishing you a happy, healthy, and peaceful 2023!

The best and most inspirational teacher I had and continue to have, though, is my mom, Mrs. O’Hanlon. She is ending year 42 and will begin year 43 of teaching in September 2023. She epitomizes what excellent, caring, and dedicated teaching is.

This past weekend it was great catching up with fellow Concord High School Raiders at our 20 Year high school reunion. We knew that “Once a Raider, Always a Raider” and we all were still #Proud2bBSD!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! After 43 years still teaching, my mom’s passion for teaching & dedication to her students inspire me every day. I grew up watching her transform lives with kindness & compassion & it’s no surprise I found myself following in her footsteps.

My grandpop, front lines of Normandy. My grandmom didn't see him until 4 1/2 years later. He came into NY on the Queen Mary. All taxis and trains were free along with a welcoming band. When he got home to Philly he threw his hat in the front door as his grand surprise entrance

This week, I’m thinking about the teachers who shaped my life—especially my mom. She was my first and favorite teacher and the reason I became an educator. Her love and compassion still guide me today. Thank you to all the amazing teachers out there!

I join many in mourning the loss of former Concord HS Asst. Principal, Mr. Harvey. As a student, teacher, and admin, I was fortunate to be inspired by his care and leadership. His legacy will never be forgotten.

Today is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Though I’m not deeply religious, I admire his compassion, humility, and simple way of life. I strive to live each day with kindness, care for others, and the Franciscan values of peace and love.
