This week a colleague said β€œit’s a good thing half my face is masked and the other half is botoxed” and that’s the most honest summation of working in healthcare thru a pandemic and primary care crisis.

Reminder: not all rhinitis is allergic. Diagnosis of AR requires evidence of IgE sensitization (skin testing > serum specific IgE). Don’t tell your patients they have allergies before they’ve had testing.

β€œYou want to know how to run family practices? You ask family doctors”. NL gov please learn from BC’s mistakes. Collaborative and urgent care clinics in BC go unstaffed and cost +++more while community family practices continue to erode. Please do not follow the same path #nlpoli

The problem: primary care crisis Some facts: 1. most medical students don’t end up in primary care 2. Most primary care residents we train don’t open a practice here 3. 0% of anything is 0 We don’t need more trainees, we need to keep what we have. NL Medical Assoc.

This reflects the complexity of the barriers to health care experienced by the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Not only does this demonstrate institutional biases & homophobia, the response from the Dept of Health demonstrates their gaps in understanding of those issues. 1/13

Was asked to complete an 11 page form so a patient with #FoodAllergy could travel on a WestJet flight. Most food allergens are not airborne. This policy creates barriers for food allergy patients, does not improve safety, and downloads work onto doctors.

PSA Don’t be a #noshow PLEASE call to cancel. It’s that time of year! Poor weather, Xmas season, high spending… Your lack of planning results in an increased wait for others & further burden on our broken #healthcare system.

Dear #AirCanada, Stop making every allergic patient's life more difficult by requiring a physician signed 8-page document to allow safe accommodations during flying. Our patients and healthcare system do not need this administrative burden. Frustrated, Allergist & Advocate
