Unplanned urban expansion on floodplains reduces the carrying capacity of rivers & streams, exacerbating #urbanflooding. This #WorldRiversDay, we look at the Jhelum River in the Kashmir valley. #EcoCityRegions (1/2)

This #WorldHabitatDay, we look at major job centers in Tamil Nadu and pattern of inter-city and inter-state migrations. Our maps show how those who migrate are exposed to different dimensions and degree of climate risks like heat stress and heavy precipitation #EcoCityRegions

A crucial missing link on the Purple Line of Bangalore Metro was connected last month. The expectation was the commute would become seamless. Instead, an overflowing surge in ridership has turned the tables on the existing system. But why?

Bangalore's traffic is god-awful. Multiple technologies have been tried to solve the problem, but to no avail. Now, under the purview of a tech-savvy IPS officer, the Bangalore Traffic Police are implementing an integrated traffic management system and adaptive signalling. 1/3

Here's a compilation of my #maps which can help you in understanding the #Bengaluru #Water situation a bit better. Bengaluru is unofficially a hill station which is located nearly a kilometre above sea level.

OUT TODAY: New analysis into how wind power is doing globally. It seems wind is on a pathway to double from 1000GW in 2023 to 2000GW in 2030. Our analysis of national targets adds up to industry forecasts, which are fairly aligned from GWEC, BNEF and IEA 🧵

And sooooo many countries (in grey) have no targets laid out for wind. Wind is far from a completely global industry yet. In fact only 56 countries have explicit wind targets for 2030.

At Ember our mission is to democratize energy data. This also means not gatekeeping it behind complex data files or technical barriers. We published our original Electricity Data Explorer in 2022. Now, we finally have a new version 🎉 More accessible, more powerful!
