Just had a dream that I was arguing with someone about whether a telecom company taking advantage of ley lines when placing junction boxes was late stage capitalism or another thing entirely.

A part of game design I don't think we talk about enough is how much time we dedicate to making a game That-Fucking-Guy Proof. Whenever we have a great or cool idea, we immediately turn to "how would the most obnoxious player imaginable exploit and ruin this for everyone?"

If you're making a game meant for a large audience though, you need to think about That Fucking Guy and man, he is exhausting and he sucks. But preventing his bullshit makes our games better in the long run, so... I guess you win this round, TFG. Thank you and never play with me.

Escape rooms are a small but VERY WIDE audience. I have so little faith anymore that TFG won’t destroy amazing but risky game elements. And in escape rooms, a person doing the wrongest thing hard enough can ruin a game not just for their team, but every future player of the game!
