3/3 We think Neurodiversity means human rights applied to brain differences. We think Neurodiversity means “autistic people with all kinds of support needs are offered autonomy, choice and opportunity” #Neurodiversity #HumanRights

Shaming an autistic person into changing their mind doesn't work. It just causes them to associate you with negative behaviour. We have to be approached with logic and understanding on a level we relate to.

Why do so many of us autistics push ourselves past the limits over & over even when we understand the burn out cycle? If anyone has any insight into the reasons why you do this personally, I'd love to hear about it.

Some aspects of autism in women is just seen as natural. I think sensory avoidance is seen as a "feminine" trait. Not liking dirt or being wet or sticky. When taken to extreme lengths I was just called dramatic.

I need all disabled people & folks who love us to note the growing list of states that have proposed legislation to designate autistic people on their driver’s license. 5 states (NY, NV, RH, NC, WV) have introduced a version of this biocertifying registry in 2023. It’s alarming.

I’ve spent much of my adult life coming out of hiding. Initially, only allowing myself to be fully seen in the presence of a chosen few; those with eyes that see with acceptance and compassion. - #AdverseChildhoodExp #ComplexPTSD #BecauseWeAreWorthIt #SelfAcceptance
