Reflecting on 10 y of disability rights advocacy: Too often awareness campaigns prioritise optics over the cause itself, becoming mere showcases for organizers and politicians. Let's refocus on meaningful action and center the voices of those directly impacted. #DisabilityRights

Serious question - how many people would be interested in forming a political party to represent the needs of the disabled community and their families. Because we seem to be consistently receiving lip service with no tangible outcomes

RobOMhantáin @PantiBliss Mary Caulfield @susanthesilent.bsky.social The wording subordinates the rights of Disabled Citizens to an independent, autonomous life outside the family - fully supported to participate fully in the social & cultural life of the Republic. The wording was v carefully chosen by Govt to indemnify the state of responsibility

Please think very carefully before you vote. I have returned my postal vote and without hesitation ticked NO oncare referendum. Rushed through by DCEDIY when countless ways to improve lives of disabled people & their families could have been implemented since UNCRPD was ratified

This deeply disappointing and fails to recognise the genuine concerns of disabled people and their supporters Bernie Linnane 🏳️‍⚧️ . #ShowRespect #UNCRPD #disabilityrights

Interesting Dr Tom Clonan reposted looking for people to register so that they could vote for him in Trinity College Dublin elections, but did not repost about the seeking of opinions from the disabled community as to whether we should create our own political entity. Any reason, Tom #Article29

When the next #Referendum takes place in June, there needs to be an additional #Amendment proposed for the Irish Constitution. That the construct of #Article8 be amended to recognise #ISL as the #THIRD OFFICIAL LANGUAGE of Ireland within the Constitution Irish Deaf Society National Charity for Deaf & Hard of Hearing People

Morning DFI - Presumably you are aware of the announcements made by Department of Social Protection during the #Referendums2024 counts, regarding allocations of €36.27m funding to organisations across the state, in preparation for this. echolive.ie/corknews/arid-…

These astonishing figures are a direct result of the HSE breaking the law and being found out by the High Court in doing so. They ignored all the warnings and the delays and outcomes for children have been seriously impactful.

Disabled people should not be restricted from spontaneous travel on rail, bus, taxi or hackneys. All buses, private & public must be fully accessible, all taxis & hackneys to be wheelchair accessible. Retrofitting of railway infrastructure to remove barriers to immediate travel

Children with #Scoliosis need to be prioritised for treatment to improve their quality of life. The resources can be provided but apparently the political will isn't. Medical Council should be engaged with along with IHCA to develop a roadmap to resolve the impasse that exists

#Article19 UNCRPD sets out the rights of People with Disabilities to be able to live independently - what PRACTICAL changes have been introduced into Irish Building Standards to make housing accessible for all? Simple changes at the design stage could achieve these requirements
