Dying people are at the heart of this debate. The House of Commons has listened, now the Lords must act to allow people the choice not to suffer.

James' mum spent her life savings, and in agonising pain, travelled alone to Dignitas to protect her family from the risk of prosecution. She did all of this simply to have a dignified end to her life. We cannot continue outsourcing our compassion to Switzerland.

Powerful and essential read from the Guardian today. Personal stories vividly illustrating the profound suffering and lack of control many face at the end of life under our current law. theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

"Bad deaths scar you forever. Whereas the law currently being proposed would lead to so many more good deaths, where people have the chance to come to terms with the reality of their death." Please read these powerful stories. theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

Privileged to campaign alongside these fearless people. The House of Lords now has the chance to relegate their experiences to the history books by passing Kim Leadbeater MBE MP's world-leading Bill, backed by the public & a growing number of medics. Peers must grasp it with both hands.

“For a very small group of us, this is something we think about because we have to. The end of my life is going to matter to me as much as the rest of it.” What terminally ill people want you to know about assisted dying... theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

"I'm not scared to die but I am scared of a bad death – a long, drawn-out, brutal, horrific death. That terrifies me." Elise lives in constant pain due to terminal breast cancer that has spread to her bones, lungs and liver. All she wants is choice over her death.

No one should be forced to suffer against their will. Assisted dying offers a safe, compassionate option for those facing unbearable end-of-life pain. #YesToDignity

“When you haven’t got to worry about the end of your life, you can really get on with living.” Dying people urgently need this new law to pass. We need thousands of people who care about assisted dying to write to Peers in the House of Lords. dignityindying.org.uk/lords

This reform is backed by the public and built on careful evidence and experience. Three-quarters of the country support an assisted dying law for the terminally ill, and Parliament is finally catching up with the public’s will.

10 years ago, my best mate Bob ended his own life at Dignitas. I haven't stopped fighting for choice since he died. We're closer to law reform than ever before, but we need your help. dignityindying.org.uk/lords

ICYMI: Parliaments of Slovenia & Uruguay have voted to progress assisted dying bills this summer. Across the world, people & politicians recognise it's time to bring the laws that govern how we die into the 21st century. Westminster's is over 60 yrs old. Change is long overdue.
