It was awesome listening to our PISD Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion director this morning. I’m even more proud to be a part of a district and program that’s committed to doing the work. I’m honored to roll up my sleeves, and do the work!

We’re doing presentations about famous leaders and their contributions to society. One of my friends chose to do George Washington Carver. I can’t wait for him to present! #weatherfordsoars

The writing teacher in me has really enjoyed teaching writing to all candidates for student council. These students took the initiative to ask for help with their writing. How mature is that? #weatherfordsoars

Student council campaigning is underway! As one of the STUCO coordinators, I’ve had the BEST time teaching writing persuasive speeches because writing is kind of my jam, and now look at these wonderful posters! #weatherfordsoars!

We had so much fun reviewing the First Amendment with a riddle today. Students were then given yes and no clues to determine what the riddle described. One student said,”This is actually fun!” Imagine that! Learning can be fun?! 😝 #weatherfordsoars

This week, we’re working on creating strong main and supporting arguments to make our debates stronger. Who wouldn’t agree that 12 year olds should have the right to vote? 😝 #weatherfordsoars

I’m hanging out with my sweet firsties this morning. We read the book Your Alien, and discussed ways we would need to adapt our classroom to make it a suitable place for an alien to live. They have some awesome ideas! #weatherfordsoars

We have been quite busy in student council. We organized a food drive, and today, in honor and celebration of Native American Heritage Month, we had a read aloud day! #weatherfordsoars

Today was our big presentation day! We spent a lot of time learning about the four leadership frames, researching leaders that fit the frames, and preparing speeches and presentations. #weatherfordsoars

Student council spread good cheer for the holiday season today. It was a big hit and so good to see the teacher’s smiling faces. #weatherfordsoars

Student council had so much fun spreading cheer and joy! We were guest readers in primary classrooms. We read about different holiday celebrations around the world. The older kids enjoyed it just as much as the younger. #weatherfordsoars

Student council read to Pre-K-2nd grade today in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Seeing their faces after they read was priceless. Next up, is our Hispanic Heritage Month living wax museum! Representation Matters!

Tonight was our Hispanic Heritage Month Living Wax Museum, and I couldn’t be more proud! I’m grateful to our fourth grade teachers that allowed me to do this with their classes without question! #weatherfordsoars

My sweet fifth grade StuCo babies are starting their peer mentor program today. They each have a student in grades K-2 that they will check in with weekly. It’s safe to say I’m going to sob when this group leaves me. #weatherfordsoars

I knew when student council began this year that I wanted students to know and understand the value of not only serving our school but our community as well. Today we voted to do our very first service project. Thank you, Mrs. Echols for helping us! ♥️ #weatherfordsoars
