I've updated my 'All buildings in Great Britain' geodata page to include the whole lot in a single GeoPackage, plus everything as shapefiles as well, should you be into that kind of thing: ajrae.staff.shef.ac.uk/buildings/ thanks to @[email protected] Neil Liam Mason Topi Tjukanov for tips/reminders

I did a comparison of city street network orientations in major US cities, and now I've got a better sense of why I find Boston so difficult to navigate. Visualization uses Python, OSMnx, and @OpenStreetMap data. geoffboeing.com/2018/07/compar…

Today Clair Griffiths & I, spent the day preparing an experiment we will run that controls the number of restaurants displayed based on load. This is one of the code patterns we use extensively to toggle between (and turn off) AI models: gist.github.com/pedrocunha/af7…

Marine traffic around the UK, in maps. Just a bit of summer blog fun, but actually quite interesting. Loads more maps here, including zoomed-in versions: statsmapsnpix.com/2018/08/watchi…

Exhibit at the Roca London Gallery on Jane Jacobs featuring Goodcitylife. The visualization of "The Death and Life of Great Italian Cities" is its centerpiece. Also happy to see people playing with smelly maps and with its physical version on a pinboard #DataLifeFutureCities #LDF18

Two main lessons Desi Hristova learned while working at Deliveroo: 1) need for customized maps (riders are happy to stop and walk, if is easier, so multi-modal transport is key) 2) the world is not flat (elevation matters, and nasa-provided maps helped) #databeers
