#AlderSpringsFire Alder Springs Fire crews are implementing a firing operation to connect dozer lines to the main fire. This will bring the fire perimeter to a place that has been reinforced with fire retardant where firefighters can secure the perimeter.

🚧 The Deschutes County Road Department will be closed on Thursday, June 19 (in observance of the holiday), and Friday, June 20 due to a planned power shutoff for campus electrical upgrades. Normal business hours will resume on Monday, June 23. Thank you for your understanding!

Firefighters are engaging on incident 485 near Katalo Butte on the Deschutes National Forest. The fire is approximately 1 acre and multiple resources are responding, including a Type 1 helicopter.

🔥Katalo Fire (incident 485) burning on the Deschutes National Forest SE of Kapka Butte is est. at 3 acres. Heavy helicopters are cooling hot spots while a dozer, Type 2 hand crew, one 5 person Oregon Department of Forestry Central OR crew and 2 engines work to establish fire line around the perimeter.

Forward progress has been stopped on the Katalo Fire. Firefighters will now secure the perimeter and mop up the fire.

Firefighters are responding to a new fire (incident 487) on private land near Spring River Estates. The fire is burning near Besson Day Use on the Deschutes National Forest that has been thinned and treated with prescribed fire. Firefighters from multiple agencies are responding.

***UPDATE: 6:25PM*** Crews from the Forest Service, Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch, LaPine Fire, and Sunriver Fire are making good progress toward containtment. The LEVEL 2 Evacuation remains. House fire spread to nearby forest land. Nobody has been injured.

Update #2: 6:40pm The Level 2 Evacuation for the area of Spring River Road and Besson Road south of Sunriver has been reduced to a Level 1 Evacuation: Be Ready.

Firefighters stopped forward progress on incident 487 in Spring River Estates near Sunriver. The fire started as a structure fire on private property & minimally spread to the nearby forest. Multiple resources remain on scene but federal wildland firefighters are being released.

***Fire Update #3*** Fire crews doing an awesome job of containing the Gina Fire off Spring River Road. The Evacuation Level 1 has been dropped. No more danger of the fire spreading at this point.

Smoke in Central Oregon is from a light wind out of the north pushing smoke from the 28,635 acre Cram Fire near Willowdale and Ashwood. An Oregon State Fire Marshal team is in unified command with the High Desert Type 3 team to manage the fire.
