🔥After a prescribed burn, firefighters patrol and 'mop-up' the prescribed burn unit until they declare the burn out. Much like you might 'drown, stir & feel' to put out a campfire, firefighters follow a similar process to extinguish lingering heat.

🔥Ignitions are complete on the SAFR Prescribed burn 2 miles west of Sisters. Firefighters are transitioning to mop-up, using water and stirring in dirt where needed to ensure that the prescribed burn is cool around the edges and secure within its containment lines.

🔥The SAFR Prescribed Burn 2 miles west of Sisters is underway. Our firefighters work with smoke and weather forecasters to burn on days when conditions are predicted to lift smoke up & away from communities. Some smoke will still be present, likely in the early morning hours.

🔥Test fire on SAFR Prescribed Burn 2 miles west of Sisters & north of Hwy 242 is successful. Firefighters are proceeding with ignitions on up to 104 acres of prescribed burning to reduce wildfire risk to the Tollgate community and the community of Sisters.
