The first thing I did when I became a principal was paint over the marker depicting the Principal's Parking Spot. I am no better than anyone else on our campus, and thus, do not need a special parking spot.

I observed a Spanish class where the teacher implemented a STOP signal with her students. When a student began to lose their comprehension of what was being said, they made the STOP symbol. The teacher could then stop, quickly review, and the student didn't lose interest.

One of my primary teachers began on Day 1 teaching her students how to respond to her and other students in English, Spanish, and Sign. Lucky students.

This is so true. Our Lincoln ES staff found a way to teach today even though we were relocated to a middle school gymnasium due to a water outage . #LionPRIDE CCSD

I absolutely love teaching. This morning was the highlight of my week when I was able to teach a group of K-8 students how to make tessellations as part of Friday Start with Art. #OneCorbett Corbett School District

I was in a principal’s office yesterday when a student came in to propose a plan for peer tutoring in light of a loss of funding for after school tutoring. That fires me up on multiple levels. I love the student leadership and initiative! I love that the principal LISTENED!

The status quo has never produced great improvement. In order to get to the top and stay on top we must constantly be pushing the envelope and adjusting and adapting.

A dissertation is a neat & tidy representation of a usually messy process. If you are or about to begin writing, or ABD, check out my article about all of the obstacles I overcame to earn my EdD. Sleepless nights, tears, and wanting to give up are normal. digitalscholarship.unlv.edu/taboo/vol22/is…

23 years ago, a student ran into my classroom to tell me about the first plane hitting the tower. I immediately turned on the TV in my classroom. That became my lesson plan for the day. Sometimes major events transcend our content. Listen to our students.

Effective classrooms are not the result of smart, well behaved kids… but of teachers planning good lessons and getting to know their students.
