The #DeclarationofIndependence was *not* signed on #July4th. Signing of the engrossed parchment began on August 2, 1776. Signatures were added in state order, from north to south (New Hampshire through Georgia), and from right to left on the parchment. declaration.fas.harvard.edu/blog/signing
