Even if you only have a few weeks left for school, it isn't too late to start making a few small changes to your daily teaching practice. Start by offering a few options for self-expression during one assignment and see how your students shine. #UDL

We so often think of engagement as nothing more than attention. But engagement is so much more. Engagement is knowing how to cope when things get challenging, understanding the purpose of your learning, and self-regulating and being motivated to learn. #UDL

Short-cycle assessment provide information for both Ss and Ts. Errors must be identified and then followed up with corrective instruction. Moving forward knowing that students have not learned certain concepts would not be wise. #alternativeinstruction #achievementteams #preteach

"It's not uncommon for students to graduate from high school believing that every math problem can be solved in 30 seconds or less. And if they don't know the answer, they're just not a math person," said Dan Finkel #edchat #mathchat #mtbos kqed.org/mindshift/5340…

This one is cause for some great discussion...must read. The message teachers communicate in their comments may be what matters most.  kappanonline.org/grades-versus-…

#G2Great Small groups should address student learning needs. They should not be the same lessons for all students just in small groups.

Consider the inner voice of the student who is “on red” nearly every day. When we reprimand a student in front of their peers, we risk changing that student’s inner voice, shifting their identity to the “bad kid.” Lee Ann Jung Dominique Smith Ed.D bit.ly/2PMFan5

Today a boy said, “You love us difficult kids huh?” I replied, “Difficult? Wouldn’t describe you that way. ‘Strong’, ‘resilient’, ‘full of gifts to share’. That’s what I see when I look at you.” He cried, “I wish every hurt kid knew someone saw that in them.” Me too. #LoveWorks
