Has #DrupalCon Splash Awards Netherlands always been an additional $50 (on top of the ~$1000 drupalcon admission which only gets you into one track)? It costs at least $2000-3000 to even show up at DrupalCon. How is this event inclusive if you basically _have_ to be sponsored to attend?

I'm seeing more and more freelancers around me with longer periods between jobs. It's quite a contrast with a couple years ago when they were all had new jobs before they even announced they'd be available. Early sign of a new financial depression?

Does anyone else feel that they basically lucked into a high paying career because their interests randomly aligned with scarcity and a rapidly growing field, and that it's nowhere near as hard, or as societally valuable as what teachers, medical professionals and care-givers do?
