Medicine is an art. It is relational. It is not about tasks. It is NOT about doing things *to* people. It requires building on broad and deep knowledge to build a plan WITH patients, while holding risk. Royal College of General Practitioners Royal College of Physicians You KNOW this. You disappoint me. Repeatedly.

@medicalmodelwithabriochebun Being a doctor must be the most useless degree in all of medicine? They can't be a PA, not allowed to work as a nurse or a physio & doesn't seem to be a quick course for them to convert. And yet career progression paths for all other roles mean they can work 'as a Dr' 🤔

While many others in the media attempt to fan the flames of racial intolerance in our country, I am v pleased to see The National bucking the prevailing trend & taking a stand. One that says Scotland is proud to provide sanctuary to those most in need, and we are better for it.

The targeting & killing of journalists in Gaza & the failure of the media to show collective solidarity & to take collective action is…incomprehensible. I feel a such profound sense of shame & failure. It’s not just the death of journalists. It’s the death of journalism. 1/

David Oliver (also on Blue Sky) Prof Alison Leary đź’™#ProtectNurse Karen Hellewell Bethany Kelly, DSN, QN llmmees Putting the orgs aside though, there's culpability at the individual level too. If you don't want someone to protocolise your work, don't write the protocols and train people to do it - yet seemingly people do, and we run the risk of everything becoming an algorithm.

David Oliver (also on Blue Sky) Prof Alison Leary đź’™#ProtectNurse Karen Hellewell Bethany Kelly, DSN, QN llmmees The other major risk that runs is lulling people into a false sense of security that something is easy because a protocol can be followed. Naturally, a trust's next question is going to be 'who is the cheapest person we can employ to run this protocol'
