Brilliant long read (which I recommend as reading for campaigners across the spectrum), by gabyhinsliff in the Guardian today on why some progressive campaigns have faced backlash and uses some insights from our report on Progressive Activists. theguardian.com/news/2025/jun/…

Three way tie at the top, Greens win despite 54% combined right bloc vote, Labour fall to fourth place in a ward they were defending. Electoral Chaos Theory in action!

Its a sign of how far Matt Goodwin 's stock has fallen that the Telegraph had to quietly clean up the mess of false claims in his recent story equating "one immigrant parent" with "not white." Pretty ridiculous to treat him as someone presenting or analysing evidence in good faith.

More in Common This government is willing to do unpopular things to save a few hundred million Yet restoring fuel duty to pre-2022 levels would save billions. Ministers have not been thanked for keeping petrol prices low — they may as well be brave and raise them again thetimes.com/article/18cd00…

"Parties of government have to operate in an environment of trade-offs. Populist radical right parties don't even have to acknowledge trade-offs let alone engage with them, so you can just never win that fight." Rob Ford (Not the Canadian one. Or his brother.) on how mainstream parties react to the populist right

Both Labour and the Tories dropping to historic lows in Senedd voting intentions (Would be nice if we had more Welsh poll's though)
