I don’t understand why we haven’t studied and implemented physical and psychological training before we subject our patients to major surgery. We wouldn’t run a marathon without training, why on earth do we allow our patients to undergo major surgery without it? #RCoAWinter

SURGERY Journal Ewen A Griffiths We rarely do CPEX testing and when we do it is nearly always to back up a decision not to operate. I find the PREPARE programme is a more meaningful assessment of fitness combined with more specific cardiac investigations when required.
