And note not a word about acutally trying, I don't know, to MAKE SCHOOLS SAFER. Why not fund CO2 monitors to help monitor need for fresh air? Funding to maintain & repoair old windows? Portable air filtration systems? Better permanent ventilation?

I just don't get it. Away from the press conferences, Chris Whitty is warning about devastating impact of long covid with rising infections, and now overwhelming the NHS. But somehow he supports stopping public health measures as we get to 50K+ cases next week?

This is *the* thread you need to read about how to prevent airborne transmission! V relevant now for schools but also for longer term for every building! We need to invest in these solutions and this thread explains them all brilliantly - with links to hepa resources.

Fundamentally, world is different now. Acting as if it isn't, which UK seems determined to do, may feel good in short term but will result in a new normal worse than the old one. I prefer for us to build a new normal that's *better* than frequent sickness & disruption. 13/13

Because Covid has (and continues) to infect many more people, public health burden is larger. It's also not a totally surprising study - researchers (e.g. Adam squires) have been raising concerns about longer term neuro impact for a long time now. Covid is not harmless. 2/2

Sort it out NHS England ! Giving blood and no staff in masks, no requirement for donors (although a couple like me are). But asked to sanitise hands on entry! Fine but covid is AIRBORNE! No open windows either. If nothing else can you afford to lose staff if they get sick?

This is how to solve a cost of living crisis. Invest your time and money building for the long term energy security of your country. Don't waste it shouting about scroungers and boats.
