I đź’š this one; so simple yet so rich. The children always amaze me w/ how many patterns they notice. Today's big mystery was: "Why are all the 'circle' numbers odd, but not all the odd numbers 'circular'?" Many ss asked to take a copy home to explore it further! #wim2021

Unpacking my new #BuildingFactFluency kit for mult/div! It's hard to pick what I love most about this brilliant resource, but it probably has to be all the built-in PD from @TracyZager and Graham Fletcher. It makes me feel like our building just got the best new math coaches!!!!

Aaaaand we're off! So excited to see teachers beginning to dive into our brand new multiplication and division #buildingfactfluency kits!

#mtbos I need your help! I remember hearing at some point that it is better to write fractions with a horizontal line rather than a slash. But I can't remember the rationale for this thinking. Can someone please explain it to me? Ericca Kazemi ? @TracyZager ? What do you think?

Use of #maths #mindset self #assessment adapted from Jo Boaler & Youcubed (thank you- valuable tool!), combined w Project Zero routine for further depth. Nxt step- setting maths mindset AND maths understanding/content goal. Interesting insight from questions about mindset!

Wow. This is a 3rd grade class engaging in many standards across grades 3-5. The standards are the floor, not the ceiling. Also, this is ONE problem. We can do so much with one well-crafted problem.

🤔 How do you talk about models vs. strategies in your math classroom? 🌟 Our language around these concepts really matters for students!➡️Got some great inspiration for this post from the works of John Tapper + Pam Harris (links/more in comments) #math4all #iteachmath #mtbos

With your child view the photo and ask “What number do you see?" "Where do you see the number five?" "Where else can you find the number 5?"

Grade 5 mathematicians Connect Charter kicked off the school year with the 100#s task to encourage talking in math and to norm what "good" group work looks like, sounds like, and feels like- thank you Sara VanDerWerf! Students were so engaged. Our mathematical classroom came alive!

What does good group work look like?Sara VanDerWerf’s 100 task does it again! This time with 2nd graders (youngest I’ve ever attempted with)

I have asked for MUCH bigger things in my time in this world. I just want: (1) a wide variety of kinds and orientations of triangles for small children, and (2) squares in the f%^$*%$&ing rectangle books.

If Twitter shuts down, you can contact me by going to a darkened bathroom saying "I'm not a math person" three times in front of a mirror and I'll appear to convince you otherwise.
