A2. Black mamas are in crisis. We are dying in childbirth right here in the us. We experience high rates of complications and the medical systems too often ignore and disrespect us, so we are showing up to push back and push for change - policy, culture & systems. #BMHW22

A3. Black mamas are more than the tragedy created by society & systems that threatens our health and happiness. We are working towards liberation so that we may lived with dignity & all of our families can thrive. We know that #BlackMamasMatter and that we deserve more! #BMHW22

A5: Our NC team helped secure passage of the “Dignity for Women Who Are Incarcerated Act” (HB608) to expand care for pregnant, birthing & postpartum people & limit the use of shackling. We are proud to have played a role in passing monumental law. #BMHW22

A5: Boosting healthcare access, removing barriers to reproductive health, providing Medicaid reimbursements for doulas, & providing Medicaid coverage postpartum for 12 months are ways that we can enable Black mamas to build liberation throughout their reproductive lives. #BMHW22

A7: We need to create more spaces where Black mamas come together to share what they are experiencing and talk about what we need. We must be at any table where Black maternal health is being discussed. We also need space and time for healing and community based support. #BMHW22
