Yesterday, the APPG was honoured to be joined by Chatham House Global Health Programme and an incredible panel, to discuss how crises can catalyse progress on UHC. The answer? Better governance and capitalising on political, economic and social will.
.Dr. Ayoade Alakija @yodifiji.bsky.social, on the hope and disappointment of the Abuja Declaration, says that "UHC doesn't begin in the health clinics, it begins at the desk of the head of state". Better governance is critical, as is South-South knowledge sharing.

I get a *lot* of messages from new grads who want to work in development / Center for Global Development and don't know where to start. While I love (seriously!) meeting with them, I basically say the same thing every time, so here's my five top pieces of advice... 🧵
The argument that aid will stop migration is empirically weak, short-sighted, and morally wrong. Not only that, other frames (e.g., that it is morally right to help people) are more effective. So please stop. ✍️ Charles Kenny (Center for Global Development) cgdev.org/blog/using-fea…
Great to meet young climate champions at #COP28, including Zero Malaria Ambassador Ellyanne Chlystun - The Tree Girl of Africa. Climate change helps create a perfect storm for diseases like malaria. It's so important to listen to young voices like Ellyanne, whose futures are most affected by decisions made
