The Communications Act of 1934 requires NPR to maintain strict objectivity and balance in all programs, particularly those addressing controversial topics. Last year, I released a detailed report showing how NPR accepted millions in donations from left-wing groups earmarked for

I first learned about Medicaid provider taxes when I was covering health policy in the New Hampshire state legislature in the 2000s. Everyone called them "mediscam."

Medicaid growing 3% per year is not a cut let alone a “sharp” or “deep” or “to the bone” cut. I know the federal budget is big and scary for non-wonks but can we please have policy debates that are remotely grounded in reality.

Here's a sampling of regulations placed on infrastructure projects during Sec. Pete's time at DOT. He only ever praised them. He should not be taken seriously.

119 Amtrak employees and three medical providers operated a scheme where providers would bill for fake treatment and gave the employees a share of the loot. The IG says that in the northeast, "blatant criminal behavior was somehow normalized" at Amtrak.

I love when people who are heavily subsidized by the government claim they are "independent." If you were independent you wouldn't need taxpayer dollars. The word you're looking for is "codependent" and you want that relationship to continue.

Spot on Rep. Jodey Arrington. The real debt driver isn't lack of revenue, it's autopilot spending. While revenue growth has generally tracked the pace of economic expansion, mandatory or "autopilot" spending programs have grown by more than 300% since the 1960s as a share of GDP.

In today's House Budget hearing, Rep. Ralph Norman pointed out the serious problem of our rising interest costs outpacing spending on defense. Economic Policy Innovation Center's David Ditch's research shows that, interest on the national debt exceeded defense spending in FY 24 and will continue

This is some *wild* gaslighting. -TX project is a primarily private company trying to secure substantial state or federal funding. IT NEVER DID. -CA project got initial funding from a ballot measure in 2008 and the CA government has been behind it ever since. C'mon man.

There are three ways, and only three ways, that the government pays for spending. 1️⃣ Taxes 2️⃣ Debt (taxes in the future plus interest costs) 3️⃣Inflation (hidden tax that reduces the value of all your money earned and saved). To actually cut taxes, Congress has to cut spending.

When your project is as much of a failure as California high speed rail, bragging about creating thousands of jobs has the reverse effect it normally does. Obvious response from voters: Then wtf have all these people been doing? Government should focus on outputs, not inputs.

Liam is right and Punchbowl News is wrong: the SALT Republicans have LESS leverage than you think. Killing the bill might help 20% of their constituents but at the expense of raising taxes on the other 80%.

Today I learned that Medicare pays for golf clubs, ski passes, and pet costs. Medicaid apparently pays for grocery bills and other "personal needs." Seems ripe for reform in reconciliation.

April-only: tax month's surplus up from $47b last year, revenue up 10% from last year. Also, much of CA got a tax extension due to the fires, so probably a few $ billion in 2024 revenue yet to come. This is mostly relevant to when we hit the debt limit "X date".

This is a major problem with current federal health policy. The Medicaid program pays providers *much* more to provide services to able-bodied, working-age, childless adults than Medicare pays providers to provide services to seniors. Will Congress address this?
