A common critique of NoSQL is that optimizing the data model for the access patterns of the application is hard to do unless they are well understood. If you are coding without understanding what queries you need then you need to be writing user stories, not code.

100% this! And if I can add something.. what bothers me is the trend of "over-abstraction" of services. Let's build things simple, ok? Those simple things already are complex and adding layers might help in that instance, but removes a lot of influence on what's going on beneath
