It never ceases to astonish me how many people overlook the potential of regional public universities. These are valuable institutions that are often central to the communities they inhabit, with untapped potential. But bc of academia's elitism, etc etc you know the drill here

This is exciting, I’ve been talking about and sharing Kasser and Ryan’s 1993 Dark Side of the American Dream article ever since I read it a few years ago, as it continues to be even more relevant today in my mind (of course SDT is always relevant).

This would be terrible of the many places I have lived this location is the only BMV/DMV where I have consistently had a pleasant experience. And the population has been growing relatively fast so it’s probably another effort to suppress voting in a college town.

I would really love to read some papers on defining the “real world” in higher education.

I remember the first time I was presenting at a Sotl conference and I realized people don’t read papers here. Spent the whole first night in my hotel room radically changing my presentation for next morning and practicing. Now I hope to never read a paper again.

O wow!!!! this is so exciting and I’m so disappointed I can’t be there in person to express my appreciation for all of the amazing editors who have been super generous in giving me feedback to improve my reviews.

So pretty much no more operas in the state. Seriously though this is horrifying especially living in a state that would eagerly copy this bill.

Now I have a study I want to do but the logistics in my mind are probably not feasible

I feel like this is a great time for a thread on motivation and how a controlling environment might get people to do what you want short term, but damages internal motivation and quality of work. But, since this app is probably going away soon so I’ll leave it at that.
