I have just cancelled my British Cycling membership and resigned from my cycling club committee. Trans and non-binary people's participation is sport is fundamental and while it may change how we organise sport; banning people is regressive and sends a dangerous message.

'A ban on trans people from sport sends out a dangerous message to the world. It suggests trans people are not legitimate, are a danger to women and that it is acceptable to be discriminatory. This mindset must not be allowed to prosper. It harms and divides society...
