Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting in Uganda Mr. Filippo Grandi, who visited Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement and met with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency and the host communities. Amidst rising refugee numbers Uganda needs increased global support to sustain the exemplary refugee response model.
Since January, over 41,000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo 🇨🇩 have sought safety in Uganda 🇺🇬, bringing the total number of Congolese in Uganda to nearly 600,000. Matthew Crentsil, head of UNHCR Uganda, warns that reception centres at the border are overflowing.
