So instead of investing money in wading pools or the Happyland Pool, the city wants to fix a suburban fountain for $200K? Complete waste of taxpayer money. Mayor Scott Gillingham Janice Lukes winnipeg.ctvnews.ca/a-nightmare-wi…

John Finch 🇨🇦 Mayor Scott Gillingham Janice Lukes Communities Raising Concerns for Liveability oh but wait; that ain't all "The city's going to do 1 last attempt at it...fountains aren't really good for our climate anyways, but they’re such a beautiful feature" But let's refuse community funds raised 4 small local pools in infill-targeted walkable areas? 🤷‍♀️

John Finch 🇨🇦 Mayor Scott Gillingham Janice Lukes "The city's going to do one last attempt at it, we're going to hope this works, fountains aren't really good for our climate anyways, but they’re such a beautiful feature." that's a banger of a comment lmfao and yet Happyland closes

John Finch 🇨🇦 Mayor Scott Gillingham Janice Lukes This bit right here. $200k in the hopes the fix will work for an element that can be wrecked by weather but it’s “beautiful.” As opposed to the hole in the ground Happyland residents get to stare at ruefully.

My column: New study identifies the reasons Winnipeg’s young people move to other Canadian cities. More than half said they would consider leaving for a city that can offer an urban lifestyle with access to walkable neighbourhoods and good public transit. winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/analys…

This city has largely grown out, not up, which has resulted in km after km of new roads, sewers, and infrastructure. Meanwhile, the inner city burns one vacant house at a time. And there are 600 vacant homes. Time for a new vision at city hall. cbc.ca/news/canada/ma…
