@cpwf_uk Another vile tradition. First recorded in 1584 the Faroese developed a method of whaling that involves stranding pods of small cetaceans on certain beaches. When a pod of cetaceans are spotted offshore, the hunt (grindagrap) commences. Eating whale meat is declining, so why???

152 kilos of marine debris taken off Roker Beach today by 5 @cpwf_uk volunteers.

So much plastic. Plastic gloves, plastic balls, plastic bags, plastic cups, buckets, containers and lids. Small plastic bottles, large plastic bottles, huge water-cooler plastic bottles…endless.

Am so thrilled & proud that Tracy (aka the woman/saint who has to put up with me) has just been selected to be a @cpwf_uk Regional Coordinator for North-East England. She and the other RC are full of great ideas and going to do great things for marine wildlife. 💙🐋
