The science of reading is a body of empirical research derived from multiple disciplines (cognitive psychology, neuroscience, linguistics, etc.). The findings from thousands of research studies reveal how the brain reads, and why it has difficulty doing so sometimes.

So excited to hear Susan Hall discuss more strategies to teach students multisyllables!

Educators, after one week of remote learning with my own kids, my reflections are: Slow down; ease up on the number of daily messages/updates (it’s tough to keep up); slim-down workload; be patient; STOP using grades as a threat. Show grace and flexibility.

April is #Poetry Month! Poetry is a wonderful way to work on #fluency. There is a lot of white space on the page, and it is not as intimidating to read as dense paragraphs. Record them so they can hear themselves read aloud. This will motivate them to want to improve. 1/2
