I love the dedication of this staff. Ms Grimes spends the last hour of the week focused on instruction and maintains engagement as students mix baking soda, calcium chloride, and phenol red solution to observe and write about chemical reactions. Started the first day back from spring break as we celebrated third quarter efforts, recognized perfect attendance, and reviewed our behavior matrix. Our character words for fourth quarter are citizenship, integrity, and gratitude. Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart
Kudos to our teachers for creating peaceful rooms (comfortable lighting), calm environments (soft music), and stress-free students (mints and aromas) for our testing at JFK. Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart JFK Elementary
Mr. Heinerikson is seen here guiding our 4th grade strings students. I love his passion and patience as we prepare for our first performance. This is our largest group of students, both in 4th and 5th, taking strings this year! Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart JFK Elementary
We are giddy here at JFK about today’s solar eclipse. We’ve spent the morning going over the directions for wearing our solar glasses and took some time to engage our students in various activities around the solar eclipse.Dr. Marques Stewart Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools
I think I heard, “This is so cool”, about 100 times in the last 20 minutes! Our students did great as we watched the partial solar eclipse. Hopefully an event they will always remember. Thank you, JFK staff, for guiding our viewing efforts today! Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart
Even during a neighborhood power outage we keep things rolling here at JFK. Flashlights, books, iPads, and old-fashioned games are keeping students engaged and comfortable. Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart

We cheered on fifth graders throughout the District as they took part in the “Are You Faster Than A Fifth Grader” marathon. It was so much fun to hear the excitement from our students and staff as they watched everyone go past JFK.Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart
BikeWalkKC is working with our 4th and 5th graders this month as they help students understand the importance of walking and biking while also stressing how to move through the city and public places safely and comfortably. Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart
Kindergarten Kick-Off is going strong tonight at JFK! Thank you to the JFK staff for welcoming our families into the 2024-2025 school year. There were times I think we were more excited than the kids. What a wonderful start to a new school year! Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart
In case you didn’t know what a Foam Party looks like, here are some pictures from today. Students have been working so hard on all of the end-of-the-year exams that we threw them a party! Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart
Lesson learned today - pace yourself at SkyZone. Thirty minutes in and we were sweating and needing a snack. JFK fifth graders celebrated the end of the year. It’s always such a joy watching kids be kids. We are going to miss this group! Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart
We lucked out with having beautiful weather for our annual Field Day at JFK. Primary students finished up their activities this morning and intermediate students start after lunch. Parents, we will be sending home some tired children tonight! Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart
Thank you to all of the families that came out today to help us promote our kindergartners to the first grade. Celebrating perfect attendance, growth in math and reading, and another wonderful school year with a GLOW PARTY! So much fun watching our JFK students dance and jump around. When did they all learn the Cha-Cha Slide?! Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart
Bittersweet. The fifth graders paraded through our halls one last time as the entire school cheers for them. They end up in the gym for heartwarming goodbyes, hugs, and well-wishes. A lot of love and best wishes to an amazing group of 5th graders! Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart
26 years in KCKPS with 23 of those at JFK. Eva is a shining example of what dedication, perseverance, and passion for what you do looks like. I’m going to miss my fellow Stevie Nicks fan, Survivor debriefer, and anything 70’s pop-culture colleague Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart
Ever wonder what happens after we “close for the summer”? Week one, we have moved furniture into the halls to wax classroom floors. Welders are here reconfiguring the handrails on both stairs. Even templates have been created for bulletin boards. Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Dr. Marques Stewart
