1)The Betteshanger experience shows that the planning system is designed so that wildlife, no matter how rare or threatened, doesn’t get in the way of development. Legislation to protect wildlife is failing. It needs to change.

The Government is allocating 25million for restoration of critical habitats for threatened species like water vole. Meanwhile at Betteshanger the planning system allows a luxury hotel to be built in the middle of water vole habitat.
