The paper is out in G3 Genetics Society of America. Himal Roka 🧬 studied how #Celegans lacking an Argonaute protein appear healthy after dauer diapause, when they show defects during non-dauer development. He identified 4 kinases that are important for this phenomenon. doi.org/10.1093/g3jour…

Excited to have been involved in this project! Check out this publication from the Damer Lab! Copine C plays a role in adhesion and streaming in Dictyostelium tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

CMU faculty and students had the tremendous pleasure of hearing from Dr. Carole Parent today from the University of Michigan! Dr. Parent’s work focuses on chemotactic signaling in neutrophils and Dictyosteliym. Thanks for spending the day with us, Carole Parent Lab!

some are fortunate enough to get a journal cover during their graduate tenure. and then there's Alison DePew, PhD who got TWO COVERS in her graduate career! turns out her beautiful NMJ will be on the cover of Development with her wonderful paper! so proud!!! journals.biologists.com/dev/article/15….

Excited to share this story from my PhD work on RNA-binding protein phase transitions in C. elegans oocytes, now out in MBoC! We identified the CCT chaperonin and Actin as key regulators. Big thanks to my advisor JSchisa students, and all my collaborators who made this possible!

This year’s medicine laureates Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun studied a relatively unassuming 1 mm long roundworm, C. elegans. Despite its small size, C. elegans possesses many specialised cell types such as nerve and muscle cells also found in larger, more complex animals,

Congratulations to Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun for this well-deserved award! Their creativity and insight studying fundamental biological questions in #Celegans led to a new understanding of the regulation of gene expression.

Happy to announce we are recruiting new faculty to join the Metabolism Department at Van Andel Institute (VAI). A great opportunity to join a dynamic community of scientists in West Michigan studying the metabolic underpinnings of health and disease. Apply here: vai.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/VAICaree…

This was a fun student-led project. In #Celegans grown in adverse environments, daf-16 promotes entry into a stress-resistant diapause stage called dauer. We use a second mutation, daf-7, to induce daf-16 mutant larvae into dauer, but some larvae bypass dauer formation. 1/3
