Inspired by Alexander von Humboldt's drawing of tropical plant communities by elevation in the Andes, I went to capture 360 video of the variety of plant communities starting at this 12,713' summit of Hallett Peak in RMNP and working my way back down to the trailhead.

For the FHSU family, I am super excited to share this work and even more to have it available online through the library. As we start this school year, I hope it can inspire reflection and imagination about the role of teachers in shaping the meaning of the places around them.

Any FHSU Teacher Ed students that might be interested in participating in the exciting 360-video research please contact me. This is open to on-campus and online students and I would be happy to answer any questions you have. No specific experience or major required.

I'm so proud of FHSU Teacher Ed students Skylar & Nikolette who braved snow & a cold night of camping in the 1st trip of the 360 video state park project. They collected videos that highlight differences in plant communities and interactions between humans and the landscape.

I'm always appreciative of Ian at Sternberg Museum of Natural History for taking time to talk to our science methods class both about the resources available for teachers, but also techniques that teachers can borrow from the informal education world.

David's work on the Everest IMAX film has been such an inspiration for me in my own work with 360 video in education. He was a true pioneer.

I am accepting lesson plan chapter abstracts for the upcoming "360 Video and Remote Exploration." No prior experience with 360 video is necessary to submit and I am more than happy to answer questions folks might have. Open to all grade levels/content areas.

We had a fun guest speaker for our music students in Secondary School today, my father in law Charlie Fraley sharing how to do the instrument repairs needed to keep a school band program going, especially in rural communities.

Early this morning, I went to try a 360 video idea I have been thinking about a while to allow students to imagine nocturnal life, which was hopefully accomplished by using lanterns with red filters. It will be a while before I know if it turned out, but it was fun to experiment.
