The dense thickets of scrub at Castor are managed to maintain a mixed age structure, keeping the habitat in the right condition for this special species.

A key reason why nature in decline in Wales is simple - not enough habitat. If habitat there nature moves in. Scrubby messy habitat, tall hedges alive with bees, butterflies and birdsong at moment. The new Sustainable Farming Scheme must result in more of this habitat for nature
